Abstract Background

Liquid Ring Pumps

A liquid ring vacuum pump is a type of positive displacement pump that uses a rotating liquid ring as a sealant to create a vacuum, trapping and compressing gases between the impeller and the liquid. Driven by an eccentrically mounted impeller, the rotating liquid (often water) forms a ring in the pump housing, creating expanding and contracting chambers that draw in, compress, and expel the pumped medium. These pumps are valued for their ability to handle liquids, aggressive gases, and high vapor loads, making them suitable for industries like chemical processing, healthcare, and food and beverage.
